Outreach

Kenya

Sister Freda Foundation’s Richard Robinson Early Education Center
Sister Freda’s ChildCare Center (villagevolunteers.org)

The Sisloff Foundation, in collaboration with k.beckman design, Dr. Alan Riley, and Sister Freda, transformed a basic meal program into a comprehensive preschool initiative in 2014, starting with the construction of a new facility. This center features three classrooms, a library, a teacher’s lounge, a medical center, a kitchen, a shower block, and a serene secret garden. With this expansion, the program tripled its capacity, now supporting over 150 children annually.

The center offers a play-based curriculum designed to prepare preschoolers for public primary school, while also addressing their medical and nutritional needs. Donations play a vital role in sustaining this initiative by funding educational materials, uniforms, shoes, building maintenance, and providing daily breakfast and lunch for the children. Your support helps create a nurturing environment where young learners can thrive and build a strong foundation for their future.

INDONESIA

Loving Nature & Learning To Protect It.

Sisloff Foundation works with local children’s charities* to organize nature-based outdoor experiences focused on sustainability education with locally grown, organic meals provided. Here are some of our recent favorites!

Green Camp

For both day trips and overnight experiences, activities are customized for kids and teens. These include making vegetable-based dye, identifying local plants & animals and revitalizing ancient traditions in the mud!

Astangkara Regenerative Farm

Day trips include hands-on activities like making seed balls, engaging with the working farm ducks, making worm compost, and learning about soil nutrients. The kids particularly love snail hunting, rice planting and feeding the neighbor cow.

Coral Triangle Center

‘Ocean Keeper Club’ is a favorite of the kids. Held at the Center for Marine Conservation, the kids have interactive activities about protecting our oceans, including the importance of mangroves, sustainable fishing and coral protection. This experience always adds an excursion to the beach.

Taman Usada

Especially for teens, this experience is focused on natural wellness. Starting at the traditional medicinal garden, deeper appreciation of individual plants is the focus. Then it is hands-on with making soap, candles and/or scrubs with local, natural ingredients. This is followed with outdoor activities ranging from trekking, tree climbing, and rappelling.
